Characterized in contemporary Anthropological theory as “transnational families” precisely for being constituted of members living apart in more than one country, dekasegi families live with a paradox and are still little studied in Anthropology from a differentiated perspective encompassing social micro-dynamics. this article proposes a brief discussion regarding the dekasegi families as transnational families, focusing on the family reorganizations and the dilemmas faced by the Japanese Brazilian children living in Hamamatsu city.
