Abstract

In this article I discuss the sonic discourses through which Haitian musicians have interrogated certain established narratives in Brazilian society. In dialogue with performative experiences, and through pointing out how recent Haitian sonic movements have challenged the political imagination, I situate the sonic as a place of practice and negotiation of new forms of belonging and a possible place to claim insurgent citizenship.
