Abstract

The Pastoral do Migrante actively participates in the process of welcoming migrants who have chosen Brazil to start a new phase of life. As part of the process of assisting migrants, Pastoral has been committed to the socialization of subjects in the Brazilian context. In a case study of the Pastoral do Migrante at the Monsenhor José Hamilton Community Center, in Salvador-BA, it was possible to analyze the importance of this pastoral not only as a welfare activity, but as an arm of public power, international organizations and civil society movements in resocialization of this target audience. Therefore, the present study intends to demonstrate the importance of the migrant’s pastoral in the resocialization of the migrants in the process of sociability in the new national context, as well as to identify and exemplify the impact of this initiative in the lives of these people.
