Da interdisciplinaridade aos child migration studies: caminhos para uma abordagem das ciências sociais sobre a infância migrante

Interdisciplinarity is one of the most discussed concepts in the epistemology of the social sciences, but its extent is not clearly defined. For this reason, the intent of this article is to present some questions about the concept and compare it to the so-called area studies. As a sequence, the article moves on to an experience of seeing the subject of international migration of children, as the originator of a field of its own, called child migration studies. After a comprehensive literature review, the conclusion is that this interdisciplinary or post-disciplinary approach is recommended, in what would be an offshoot of migration studies with great potential for growth in the coming decades.
