O caso dos peruanos no Brasil

Abstract

This article aims to be a reflection on the mobility dynamic of Peruvians to Brazil. Analizyng their profile and the main reasons that propel them to go abroad, the paper indicates that, very different from what the common sense usually imagine, Peruvian population in Brazil is diverse and heterogeneous, including workers in informal activities and also high-qualified professionals. Coming from different parts of their country and holding multiple levels of educations, Peruvians (re)produce a “culture of migration”. This paper is based on bibliographic research and fieldwork conducted among Peruvians in Rio de Janeiro. Keywords: Peruvians; Brazil; international mobility.
