Abstract

This article analyzes three lyrics composed by musicians from the Northeast of Brazil, who migrated to the Southeast during the 1970s. The 3 songs are: Domingo de pedra e cal by Geraldo Azevedo (1977), Saga de Severinin by Vital Farias (1982), and Fotografia 3X4 by Belchior (1977). The proposal is to identify if the lyrics reproduce current stereotypes about the Brazilian Northeast region and about its migrants. It also tries to verify if the songs approach a subjective or a collective perspective on the migration trajectory. It was used the thematic analysis technique based on the Oral History methodology.
