Abstract

The present work analyses, through the music of Sá, Rodrix & Guarabyra trio and Sá & Guarabyra duo, familiar relations, kinship and “compadrio” in Brazil during the 1970’s. The songs have become important resources for evaluating the familiar background, mainly related to population who lived in the country and, during that decade, in the middle of intensive urbanization process, were expelled from the rural environment by the constructions of dams as part of the national program for rationalizing the land and the projects for increasing the Brazilian hydroeletric potential during the authoritarian period.
