Abstract

The text examines aspects of the phenomenon of Brazilian workers who emigrate to Italy; it emphasizes the role of formal and informal networks involved in this process as well as the emotional and cultural horizons which connect the spaces of origin to the destination. It also shows that the migration - especially of people from South Brazil, with Italian ancestry - is enrolled in the arc of political strategies of Lega Nord in order to attract selective workforce. However, promises like the double citizenship do not always come true and many immigrants end up staying in the country as undocumented.
