With more than a century and a half of history, football is always in constant changing. Of a sport reserved for the nobles and the British elite, football has become the sport of the masses and most popular sport of the world, embracing all society. These transformations can also be seen in the national football teams of Europe, reflected through their increasingly multicultural and multiethnic teams. It is in the national teams of the continent that marginalized social people, such as immigrants and their descendants find more space and opportunities to show their value. This article will show this relationship between football and migrant populations in Europe, as well as a brief history of the participation of this population over time in football history.
