This article aims to analyze the challenges for the recognition of environmental refugees in the international protection system. The need for such recognition is justified, because even today, migrants for environmental reasons are without specific law, institution or agency responsible for their assistance or protection. Until then, the only protection that the person displaced by climate change has is due to International Human Rights Law, which, however, does not meet their special needs. This article intends to study how the environmental crisis should be taken into account for this new classification of refugees and / or displaced persons and how those people who were obliged to leave their lands of origin, temporarily or definitively, will be protected internationally.
