This article aims to analyze Paraguayan migration to the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo, between the years 2000 and 2012, based on the documentation of the Center for Migration Studies (CEM) of Missão Paz. We initially propose a problematization on the topic that still counts with few studies in contrast to the growing numbers of this group’s presence in the country, especially in metropolitan areas. We discuss the role of migration in Paraguayan society in contemporary times, showing its relations with the socioeconomic model adopted since the end of the 18th century and its current dynamics that are characterized by regional and global movements. Finally, we analyzed the data obtained from the CEM documentation, seeking to qualify Paraguayan migration to São Paulo in order to understand how the place of origin and destination are articulated in this flow.
