Abstract

The economic and political crises that plague Latin America once again force a large number of people to seek refuge elsewhere. With a focus on the Venezuelan immigration, this article will analyze the situation in Venezuela as well as actions taken by the Brazilian government in the current pandemic, seeking to understand what motivates so many Venezuelans in their ever greater return to their country of origin, even in the midst of a international crisis as serious as that of Covid-19. A special focus shall be given to the discrimination faced by this population under the current government in Brazil.
